  They served the best food for the best price and there was problem with the food , nicely cooked and made with alot of attention.I reccomend it!!

  on day trip handed a flyer decided to try I am ceoliac and asked if they had any gluten free pasta answer no. most of the menu included wheat flour so settled for salmon price included veg. & potatoes but I asked for salad, Salmon portion small by normal restaurant standards salad was miniscuel as only had a quarter of tomato and less than a hanfull of rocket, I call this a garnish for this i had to pay £15.95 with no reductionfor having a garnish instead, companians had the 2 for 1 meal of tomato soup and fish and chips for £4.95 wiich seemed very good value, but the ovner was to say the least surly and uncompromising, and I left with a very bitter taste, and angry yet again vegetarians well catered for but this CAFE not prepare to even vaguely assist with a GF diatary requiement I am a regular diner in many restaurants of better and lesser standards than this one and have been better treated no compassion or civility, staff good but obviously scared of approaching boss with any thing out of the ordinary - Ceoliacs avoid at all costs.

  I took my son as a special outing for doing well in his college exams. Romans place was recommended to me by a friend. I wish I had never gone I thought it was a rip off the prices for the quality of food was extortionate. The 2 for 1 offer is not made clear we paid an extra £10 because they knocked off the Pizza instead of the Beef strogonoff which was priced at over £18 each with mouldy potatos and very little beef which was tough. The sauce was good and so was the dessert. I came away feeling cheated.

• Not Lincoln's best for food quality

  Being a regular Italian cuisine eater at home in Italy & UK I like to compare chef's pasta sauces. Unfortunately the cream' element was in many dishes - took a risk on the Tag Romana without cream but taste where was garlic? others in party said pizzas OK starters good & desserts good. wine choice limited. service good ! worth going back for the 2 for 1 luncnhtime offer if you like Pizzas.

• Lincoln's hidden gem

  We have eaten at Roman's Place on several occasions (having only found out about it by accident the first time whilst in Castle Square & hungry!) and I would heartily recommend it. Each time we have been the food has been delicious (it's well worth deviating from the menu and trying something from the specials board) and the service excellent, whether you drop in for a bite of lunch or book for a special occasion.

• Roman's Palce

  I have been in Lincoln for the past 15 years yet for some reason never been to Roman's Place until it was recommended by my boss. 6 of us went there last Saturday and they served us the best food with the best value in Lincoln, service was great and we were not rushed out of the door unlike some other Italian restaurants in Lincoln. Will definitely go there again.

  This restaurant is superb! Myself and my partner have eaten here regularly for the last year. Wonderful, quiet restaurant in a beautiful setting near to the castle. The food is great, particularly the steaks and the 2-4-1 offer is fantastic value. Service is prompt but quiet and you never feel like you are being hassled or ignored. Would definately recommend :)

• Poor food and Poor Service

  Special occassion was ruined by poorly executed food (some of which I think was frozen to start with) and service that made us feel like we weren't wanted. Would never go back.

  very good resteraunt! Excellent food and a brilliant bunch of staff. Booked in a party at short notice but were very happy to help and were able to give me till the afternoon before we went in the evening to confirm numbers which was a great help! Great prices- all main meals are 2 for 1 which was even better! Food was of a very high standard- the best pizza i've had in a long while! The setting of the resteraunt was great and the decoration inside was loverly. Fantastic. i would definatly go there again.
