I bought a Collie from willow Farm a week ago. I paid £295 for him and think hes adorable!! To say their not a puppy farm may be stretching the truth just a little!! Upon purchase I was given food for him, told when he was last wormed and what tablets given. I know his date of birth, and was also told if he needed to see a vet within the next 6 months after purchase then I could take him to see their vet for nothing as laws have changed about the sale of dogs and the onus is on the seller during that period. I was also told if my own vet found ANYTHING wrong with the dog then I could take him back and exchange him (not that I could now!!) I was also given a written guarantee for him. and told to ring at any time if I had any concerns. Also within the information provided it does state that puppies often suffer from sickness and diarrhoea when entering a new home. (being taken from its litter, car journey, ect) My pup had diarrhoea for about a day and is coming on in leaps and bounds!! (and teeth and claws!!) My only sadness is I couldn't bring them all home!!
My experience with Willow Farm was very much like the previous reviewer, the owner could talk the talk but we weren't fooled by him, he seemed to show little interest in the pups and we felt questions were avoided. There were many pups in this place although looked clean on the outside there was a feeling that it didn't appear to be what it was saying it was. There were many different breeds of puppies and we were told the parents couldn't be seen as they had been brought in from elsewhere.Of course alarm bells went off but when i saw the pup i had gone to see there was no way i could have refused her, i wanted to bring them all home and i suspect the owners know this, some people can't walk away.I paid almost £500 for her and there was no pedigree, nothing not even a sample of food. When we got her home, within the first half hour she had diorreaha and had to take her to the vets immediately, she had a nasty stomach bug but fortunately within a week she was fine,it was very likely if one dog had it then most would have.As with the previous reviewer I also spoke to a couple of people and I was told the same thing about some of the dogs, not all dogs that come from there were well and had got very ill.Fortunately now my dog is about a year old and she is absolutely beautiful and i wouldn't be without her, hopefully we will be fine with her but I do have my doubts and concerns about this place, I feel it needs checking out thoroughly and questions asked by the right people.I don't want to put people off as there are many dogs needing homes and as with me my heart ruled my head and i know i gave one of them a good loving home for life.If I had read reviews before I went i would have pushed for more answeres and wanted a guarantee the pup was fit and well on the day we left with her, many places do a vet check as they leave their breeder. I have got 2 other dogs since and they have been vet checked, all people selling pets should be forced to have a vet check within 24 hours before leaving the seller.
I have a friend who has been looking for a pedigree bichon frise puppy. After looking through many adverts we came across Willow Farm. We spoke to the owner (we presume) who seemed very genuine. We asked if the pups were pedigree and KC registered and were told they were. When we asked if the parents could be seen we were told that "dogs are not bred on the premises therefore mum and dad could not be seen" When we enquired further we were told that the farm was basically a business in which many breeds are bought then sold on "but they were definately not a puppy farm". They also offer a delivery service which seemed a bit weird. Intrigued by this claim that they were indeed a farm that sold puppys but WERE NOt a puppy farm we went to have a look ourselves. The farm was kept very low key and from the outside no one would ever know puppys were being sold inside. The whole place felt undercover and seedy. When we went in we werent even greeted by the person we had spoken to. The pups were kept in stables under heat lamps (nice enough conditions) the breeds were all mixed together and all different ages. All looked healthy from the outside, but who knows if they really were. When we asked where the pups were actually from we were told Wales, this started the alarm bells as many puppies coming from wales are 99% of the time from puppy farms!! So even if willow farm was not one they definately got supplied from puppy farms! We left straight away feeling disgusted and hurt that people could claim these puppies were something they werent and know full well the type of backgrounds they have endured!! We were also told by a local that people had purchased puppies from there that died within a few days. The people that have wrote good reviews of the place may have been lucky with their dogs. But i would beg anyone who is decent and honest not to go to places like this avoid them completely go to proper breeders! The more people that buy from these types of farms the more puppies that will suffer as a result!!!
I bought a labrador bitch (Lady) who was supposed to be a pedigree, paid £475 for her, the vet told me she was probably brought from Wales, and also said she had a bad leg, caused from lack of calcium from her mother. We consider we have saved her, and love her to bits, she is a very clever dog. But I bought a bitch hoping to breed her as pedigree pups so I feel betrayed.
we purchased our jack russel neve from willow farm kennels in december 2002 and she is the best little dog in the world and we love her dearly! the only thing i would mention is that her ears stick up and her tail was docked.. but all in all its a fantastic place
I would like to say that we purchased our Cairn Terrier from Billinghay kennels and he has been the best doggy ever. Everyone loves Benji, and apart from being a typical Cairn (full of mischief) he has the best temperament and is a wonderful family pet. Thank you Willow Farm Kennels for bringing our little man into our lives, he is 3 now and still super! I would also like to add that he appears to be very well bred and would have made an excellant stud if I hadn't had him done (if you know what I mean!). Laura.
ON MY 21ST BIRTHDAY, BACK SOME TWELVE YEARS AGO, I BOUGHT A BEAUTIFUL TRI COLOURED CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT.THAT LITTLE LADY,HANNAH B TO HER FAMILY WAS THE BEST DOG YOU COULD EVER WISH FOR.SHE AILED FOR NOTHING UNTIL THE END AND DIED IN MARCH OF LAST YEAR AT THE RIPE OLD AGE OF TWELVE OF KIDNEY FAILURE WHICH BROKE MY HEART.THE SERVICE I RECEIVED AT THE TIME WAS GREAT,THE KENNELS CLEAN AND ALL PUPPIES SEEMED IN GOOD HEALTH.I THOUGHT THIS MAYBE LOOKED A BIT LIKE A PUPPY FARM AS THERE WAS A FEW BREEDS THERE TO CHOOSE FROM BUT THAT IS THIS THE ONLY CONCERN I WOULD HAVE.I WANT TO SAY A BIG THANKYOU TO THEM FOR GIVING ME A SUPERB DOG WHO I MISS DEARLY AND I HAVE CONSIDERED MAYBE TO GO BACK AND GET ANOTHER FROM THEM.I AM NOT SAYING THAT THE OTHER LADIES VIEWS ARE NOT ACCURATE AS IT COULD BE THAT IT IS DIFFERENT NOW SO MANY YEARS ON ,I HOPE NOT.EMMA JOHNSON
After finding the details of these 'top uk breeders' I went to vist their establishment in Measham, Derbyshire. I was appalled firstly to see that their 'pets', 2 German Shephers were lame and extremely thin. The puppies that were for sale had kennel cough and sore eyes where the saw dust which was used for bedding has infected them. The young man who worked there was rude and obnoxious.
